Small Fruit & Culinary CSA Share - 12 pickups
Small CSA Share - 12 pickups spanning 6 months = $25/pickup for on-farm pick-up. Pick-ups will take place on Wednesdays or Fridays beginning June 19th, 2024 through November 29, 2024, Noon – 6 PM on the Farm (1 Henrikson Rd Scarborough, Maine). $300 paid up front.
We are so excited to add a Small Fruit and Culinary CSA to our 2024 farm offerings. Here at Goronson Farm, we have @144 fruit trees growing around the property - many are rare and heirloom varieties. All our fruit and tomatoes are double certified organic through MOFGA and the REAL Organic Project. We guarantee most of these fruit varieties will not be found at your local grocers. Among our most interesting offerings are the Chinese Honey Peaches, Honey Blaze Nectarines, Asian & European Pears, Iranian Apricots, and heirloom Albert Etter apples.
This is our first fruit CSA so it’s difficult to gauge how the fruit will stream through this schedule. We are not offering weekly pickups, but instead 12 pickups throughout a 6 month period. You will receive emails ahead of pickup weeks and then pick-up your share on Wednesdays or Fridays at your convenience. Make sure you include the correct email when you checkout, this will be our point of contact for pickup. We’ll aim for 6-8 pieces of fruit or a container of fruit (including strawberries, nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums, heirloom tomatoes, apples, pears), plus some greens, green onions, homemade herbal teas, and culinary herbs in your box for each pickup. Sometimes duck eggs will be included as an offering and sometimes small floral arrangements – it will include a colorful selection of what is ripe and ready to harvest.
Expect strawberries first thing in summer which will move to nectarines, peaches and apricots and then other fruit as the season progresses. We’ll make sure that you have at least $25 wholesale worth of items in your box each time and sometimes you will be able to select a choice of what you’d like. June will have just one pickup, but some months - like October & November - will be flush with different kinds of European pears & heirloom apples so there will be 3 weekly pickups during each of those months. This would be a wonderful gift for the fruit aficionado and culinary expert in your life - or the perfect chance to try new, locally grown fruits not found elsewhere. Quantities are limited!
